Recently I received a gift from a friend after she heard that I wanted a new lipstick, and she knows that I love dark lipsticks as they contrast against my pale skin. I've never tried a revlon lipstick and thought there is a first time for everything.
When I first tried on the lipstick I realised that it is very similar to MAC's Dark Side so I thought I would carry out an experiment with both lipsticks to see how they coped throughout the day. I done this as there is a slight difference in colour but if the Revlon one was better I would carry on buy this particular product, for cost, and the fact i can get this a lot easier than MAC products.

Revlon:
A lot more creamy than MAC, although looking darker it's a little more shear and glossy. I had a problem with patchiness but I fixed this with my usual routine (you can find it below under M.A.C lipsticks), it just took a little longer. The other problem I had was how much product I lost throughout the day even with my clear lip pencil. Anything I done would transfer a large amount of product to things like cups, bottles, food etc. However, it is great to use as a stain by applying and blotting, you can also add a bit of chapstick to make it feel more moisturising and comfortable for yourself. Overall I wouldn't use this as a full on lipstick as it requires a lot of attention but as a stain is amazing, and I will be purchasing this for myself for that purpose.

As I have said before in a previous blog I have had some difficulty with MAC lipsticks but have managed to work out a good routine to make them last and effortless to wear (you can find this below). This was more of a block colour that revlon and was a thicker consistency allowing it to last longer, I didn't have problems with bleeding or patchiness. So I would buy this product again for the lipstick purpose.
After doing a day with both lipsticks they are both very different in effectiveness but very similar in colour. I am happy to say that I will be buying both these products again but for different reasons. If anyone has both of these products or decides to purchase them let me know how you get along and if you agree with these thoughts.
